Jaycees Christmas Parade
November 30, 2007
Kick off your weekend with the upcoming 59th annual Orange Jaycees Christmas Parade. This year’s parade theme is “Songs of Christmas.” The parade will commence at MacArthur Shopping Center and travel through town, ending at Lamar State College - Orange. Don’t miss out on the festive floats, music, Santa Claus, and holiday spirit!
To enter the parade, please submit a category (marching, general, commercial, or religious) and size of your entry float, a contact name and phone number, and whether or not music will be included in your entry (entries with music will not be placed near bands or fire engines) to The Orange Jaycees, P.O. Box 1521, Orange, Texas 77630. Entry forms are available at R&R Auto Supply on MacArthur Drive, Artcraft Printing on Western Avenue, and the Greater Orange Area Chamber of Commerce on Green Avenue. For more information, please contact chairman Jimmy Grimes, Jr. at 409.779.9199 or Hank Van Slyke at 409.886.4505. Floats are encouraged to have lights since the parade is at night. Also, the Police Department requests that no candy be thrown from the floats.
The floats will be judged on the four categories listed above, and a “Judges’ Choice” trophy will be awarded to the judges’ favorite. The Grand Marshal will award a trophy to the best overall entry. Bands will receive a participation trophy.
This year’s parade is dedicated to the memory of Constable Parker Thompson.
